The government is implementing its project at a site owned by the Governor Nayak Trust. Ramadoss has written to Chief Minister Stalin asking him to provide the foundation with a space equivalent to the occupied space.
In it, “I am writing this letter to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to urge the administration of the Tamil Nadu government to arbitrarily take away the properties given to the government for the government’s projects, such as for sacred projects such as the work of God, education and development of the Vannia people who are in a very, very backward state, and to compensate for the lands that have been taken so far.
Born in the year 1835 to the son of Venkatapati Nayak – Akhilandammal Sambara of Vanniyar clan Satriya family in Nemmeli, Chengalpattu district, Aalwanthar Nayak donated 1550 acres of land which he had accumulated by his hard work for God’s work. The Arulmiku Alawandar Foundation, which is functioning in his name, now owns 1054 acres of land.
Since the lands deeded by the governor are many times more than the requirement for the work mentioned by him, can they be used for other work? When the question arose, the Madras High Court bench headed by Justice Seshatri Iyer ruled on April 25, 1918 that they can be used for educational purposes. Activities against it cannot be allowed.
But the trend of using the assets under Ayur Kani Aalvandar Nayakar Trust for activities against his intentions is increasing day by day. I am bringing to your attention that the same trend is continuing as I have written to them many times asking the government to abandon this trend.
Chengalpattu district adjacent to Mamallapuram to supply drinking water to Chennai city
A sea water desalination plant with a daily capacity of 40 crore liters at Perur will cost Rs. 4,276.44 crore to be set up. This is the third plant to desalinate seawater to supply drinking water to South Chennai.
You laid the foundation stone for the project on August 21 last year via video. For this project, 85.51 acres of land owned by Ayur Kani Lavavandar Trust has been acquired by the Government on long-term lease basis from the Department of Hindu Religious Endowments.
Seawater desalination plants are already functioning at two places to supply drinking water to South Chennai. A seawater desalination plant with a capacity of producing 11 crore liters of drinking water per day has been operating since 2013 at Sulerikadu under Nemmeli Panchayat next to Mamallapuram. In the same complex, a second plant for making seawater into drinking water with a capacity of 15 crores has been set up at a cost of Rs.1516 crores and you directly inaugurated that plant on 24th February last.
For these two plants, 125 acres of land belonging to the Aayuk Kani Lavavandar Trust has been leased and used by the Tamil Nadu Government. A total of 210.51 acres of land has been acquired on lease for drinking water projects only.
The purpose for which the lands belonging to the Aalavandar Trust are to be used has been confirmed by the Aalavandar through his will and by the High Court through its judgment. Only for those purposes should the Govt. Trust lands be used. On the contrary, it cannot allow the use of government lands.
5 acres of land for setting up Bharata Munivar Cultural Center, 564 acres of land for Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to implement solar power project, land for private land trading companies and 210 acres of land for sea water desalination project cannot be allowed to be tarred. These are against the intentions of the ruler. As the Chief Minister, you should stop the taring of lands like this.
The Department of News and Publicity had decided to take long-term lease of 29.175 acres of land owned by the Lord Vandar Trust at Nemmeli to set up a state-of-the-art film city with public and private participation announced by the Tamil Nadu government. After I wrote to them on July 12th and 16th last year condemning it, it has come to know that the decision has been abandoned and the film city is going to be set up in Chembarambakkam area.
Likewise, the Tamil Nadu government should reclaim all the lands earmarked for projects against the objectives of the Governor and hand them over to the Governor’s Trust. As construction work has been carried out on land acquired on lease basis for desalination project, it is not possible to take back the land leased for the projects as the sites cannot be vacated and they are public necessity projects.
The people of Vanniya clan belonging to Alawandar’s dynasty are still very backward in terms of education and employment. It would be more appropriate to use the remaining assets of the Governor Nayak for the education, employment and economic development of the people of Vannia.
Instead of that, the people of Vannia will never accept that the Tamil Nadu government is trying to tarnish the ruler’s assets against his intentions. Tamil Nadu will fight against it like never before. The Tamil Nadu government should not allow it.
Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government should recover the lands belonging to the trust, which were tarred against the intention of Governor Nayak. In his letter to the Chief Minister, Ramadoss mentioned that instead of the land leased for the sea water desalination project, they should order the government-owned land in the East Coast Road area to be given to the Ayaz Kani Lalvandar Trust.
