YouTuber Felix Gerald, who interviewed Chavku Shankar, has been granted judicial custody till May 27 by the Trichy court.
Shankar gave an interview to the Red Pigs YouTube channel where he slandered women constables and top police officials. The Coimbatore Cybercrime Police registered a case against Chavku Shankar and arrested him. He is currently in judicial custody in Coimbatore Jail.
While the case related to this has come up in the Madurai High Court, the judge opined that action should also be taken against the YouTube channel Felix Gerald who broadcast the interview given by Chavku Shankar. Accordingly, on the 10th night in Delhi, the police led by Special Inspector Veeramani of Trichy Superintendent of Police arrested Felix Gerald.
In this case, Felix was brought to Chennai by train from Delhi. Later, he was taken from Chennai to the Cyber Crime Office in Subramaniapuram, Trichy by a police vehicle.
Following this, they were produced in the Trichy 3rd Additional District Law Court before Judge Jayapratha. At that time, 3 lawyers, including Bharti, presented arguments saying that they should be joined as petitioners.
After hearing the arguments of both sides, the judge, Jayaprada, said that the recorded footage of Shankar’s interview should be seen. An hour later, the judge ordered him to be remanded in judicial custody till May 27.
Accordingly, the police arrested Felix and took him to Trichy Central Jail.
Felix Gerald’s lawyer Vigneswaran said, “Felix Gerald, who was arrested in Delhi, was produced in the Trichy court at 5.30 pm. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the judge heard the interview given by Shankar and later remanded him in judicial custody till 27th. Although cases have been registered against him under various charges, only one case has made him non-bailable. Others are in the form of collateral.
He said that the police did not give him any trouble. Section 167 requires them to be produced in the court in the area where they were arrested. Accordingly, he was produced and has now gone to jail.
As he has a political background, a crowd will gather when he is taken away, the police said. Also, the women constables expressed their apprehension to the judge regarding the problem caused by Chavku Shankar’s speech“ He said that.
