Karur Lok Sabha Election Results – 2024
Karur is the 23rd out of 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu. After the reorganization of constituencies in 2008, Karur Lok Sabha constituency now has 6 assembly constituencies namely Vedachandur, Aravakurichi, Karur, Krishnarayapuram, Manaparai and Viralimalai. It has assembly constituencies from 3 districts. Vedachandur Constituency belongs to Dindigul District. Manaparai Constituency belongs to Trichy District. Viralimalai belongs to Pudukottai district.
Karur Lok Sabha constituency has seen 16 elections so far. Congress has won 7 times and ADMK has won 6 times in Karur constituency, which has been a Lok Sabha constituency since the second election of independent India. Congress won the last election since 2004 in 2019 in DMK alliance.
Karur constituency has a total of 14,21,494 voters. This includes 6,89,900 male voters, 7,31,502 female voters and 92 third gender voters.

Congress’s Jyotimani, who contested the last election in the DMK alliance, defeated senior leader Thambidurai, who contested on behalf of the ADMK, by a margin of about 4,20,546 votes. The margin of vote between the two is 38%. Jyotimani got 6,95,697 votes and Thambidurai got 2,75,151 votes.
Naam Tamilan Party secured 38,543 votes, AUM 31,139 votes and Makkal Neeti Maiyam 15,967 votes.
2014 Election Results
In this election, ADMK’s Thambidurai won again by securing 5,40,722 votes. Chinnaswamy contested on behalf of DMK and lost by getting 3,45,475 votes. NSKrishnan who contested on behalf of DMDK got 76,560 votes and Jyothimani of Congress who is now MP got 30,459 votes.
2009 election results
ADMK’s Thambidurai won the election in which 38 candidates contested. Thambidurai got 3,80,542 votes. Palaniswami contested on behalf of DMK and secured 3,33,288 votes. DMK’s Ramanathan got 51,196 votes. The CMU candidate secured 14,269 votes.

Votes cast on April 19 will be counted today. This constituency has created a lot of anticipation as star candidates have been fielded. Jyotimani has again contested here on behalf of the Congress in the DMK alliance. Thangavel in ADMK and Senthilnathan in BJP. Since it is BJP leader Annamalai’s own constituency, it is necessary to observe the vote percentage of BJP and its chances of victory.
As of 4 o’clock, Congress candidate Jyothimani who contested in the Karur Lok Sabha constituency in the DMK alliance has secured 323777 votes, AIADMK candidate Thanga Vel 228646 votes, BJP candidate Senthilnathan 63132 votes and Nam Tamil Party candidate Karupiya 55580 votes. Currently DMK alliance candidate Jyotimani was leading by 95131 votes over AIADMK candidate Thangavelin.
At the end of the counting of votes, Congress candidate Jyotimani has won by securing 5,33,567 votes. AIADMK candidate Thangavel got 3,67,871 votes and BJP candidate Senthilnathan got 1,01,758 votes. Naam Tamil candidate got 87,451 votes. Subsequently, Jyotimani has been elected as Karur MP for the 2nd time.
