Honda to completely stop production of fuel bikes in next 15 years-oneindia newsHonda has announced that it will not manufacture fuel-powered two-wheelers from 2040. Honda Motorcycles and Scooters has also announced that it will manufacture only clean and renewable energy powered two-wheelers from 2040 onwards.

This is the first time a Japanese company has set a deadline to stop production of fuel-cell vehicles. Honda plans to launch 10 electric vehicles (including two-wheelers) by 2025. The company has set a target of selling 1 million electric vehicles by 2026.

Also, Honda is working towards the goal of selling 3.5 million electric vehicles by 2030. This accounts for 15% of the company’s total two-wheeler sales. Honda has been investing heavily in electric vehicle technology and development over the past few years.

Honda is also working on various platforms related to the electric vehicle infrastructure, such as developing new standard batteries, alliances to exchange batteries and building new electric vehicle charging stations.

The company is yet to launch any electric vehicles in India. But the company is reportedly developing an electric version of its best-selling Activa scooter in India. Soon, the company is expected to launch the Activa electric scooter as its first electric two-wheeler in India.

Honda’s foray into the Indian electric two-wheeler market will be a tough competition from the likes of Ola and Ether, which already have a presence in the market. This decision by Honda shows the company’s commitment to making vehicles that run on clean energy as a whole. Soon we can also expect electric cars from Honda.
