Delhi: The 18th Lok Sabha session began today in the new Parliament building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media before attending the meeting. He then said that he was referring to the emergency imposed on June 25, 1975 during the Congress rule.
Prime Minister Modi said that tomorrow (June 25) marks the 50th anniversary of the stain on Indian democracy. That was the day when the Constitution of India was completely rejected. He lashed out at the Emergency as a day when democracy was completely crushed.
Also, we will resolve that no one in India will repeat such an act which was done 50 years ago. Prime Minister Modi also said that we will take a decision to fulfill the dreams of the common people as per the Constitution of India to bring a vibrant democracy.
Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge strongly opposed the criticism of Emergency mentioned by Prime Minister Modi. He said how long he is going to rule about emergency.
He also said that he would have said emergency more than 100 times. How long should the government talk about this? Modi tried to break the constitution. That is why today all the party leaders are gathering here in front of the Gandhi statue and protesting. Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge told reporters that our demand is that they act according to the Constitution.
