A travel advisory has been issued to avoid heavy rains at various places in Kerala. Southwest Monsoon has intensified again in Kerala. Due to this, heavy rains are falling in various parts of the state. It is raining with strong winds especially in the hilly areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today (June 26, Wednesday) has issued an orange warning for very heavy rains in Kannur and Kasaragod districts and a yellow warning for heavy rains in 6 districts from Ernakulam to Wayanad except Idukki and Southern districts.
Kozhikode, Nathapuram, Kuttyadi and other hilly areas are receiving heavy rains. 40 km per hour Landslides also occurred in Thamaracherry area due to high speed winds.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder, lightning and strong winds for the next 5 days due to the low pressure zone prevailing in the Kerala region.
Also yellow alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod districts for next 2 days.
In this situation, more rain is likely in Ernakulam, Kottayam, Thrissur Munnar and Pathanamthitta districts in the coming days. Due to heavy rains, avoid visiting Munnar, Idukki and other areas till June 28, says private meteorologist
