The 9th T20 World Cup series between USA and West Indies came to an end last Sunday. Rohit Sharma-led India beat South Africa by 7 runs to win the trophy for the second time in a thrilling final at Bridgetown, West Indies.
With this victory, India won the T20 World Cup after 17 years under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Although the tournament ended on Sunday, the Indian team’s return home was delayed due to Cyclone Beryl in Barbados. As the storm moved towards Jamaica yesterday, the Indian team members left for India on Wednesday in a separate flight.
In this case, all the Indian team players reached the capital Delhi at 6 am today. Fans thronged the Delhi airport from early morning to give a rousing welcome to the players who returned home with the trophy. After that they gave them a warm welcome. Following this, the Indian team players met Prime Minister Modi in Delhi at 11:00. Prime Minister Modi congratulated the Indian team for winning the World Cup.
