242 people were injured when a luxury tourist bus from Nuwara Eliya to Trincomalee crashed early yesterday morning.
The incident took place early yesterday morning (11) on the Nuwara Eliya-Kandy main road at Labukalai area.
When it came to know about the accident, this luxury private bus left the road and crashed into the nearby safety iron fence. Traffic on the Nuwara Eliya-Kandy main road was completely disrupted due to the accident.
The accident took place in a Nuwara Eliya hotel in which the employees were traveling.
According to hospital sources, 42 people, including the driver and the conductor, who were traveling in the bus at the time of the accident, were injured and all of them were admitted to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital. After this, Nuwara Eliya Police are conducting further investigations related to the accident.
