It has been reported that Toyota is going to release a mini-Fortunener model as a smaller version of the Fortuner model. The car will be launched first in Thailand and then in other countries under the name ‘FJ Cruiser’.
Toyota’s New Mini-Fortuner:
This mini-Fortunener model is built on the same IMV 0 platform as the Toyota Fortuner. Despite being smaller than the Fortuner, the FJ Cruiser has a more rugged look, with boxy styling, large wheel arches and ragged bumpers.
Introduction in Japan:
Toyota had showcased this FJ Cruiser as a concept model at the 2023 automobile event in Japan. Currently, its production stage shape is ready and its production is going to start in November.
Toyota FJ Cruiser Sizes:
The new Caranaku will have a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, a height of 1,850 mm and a length of just under 4,500 mm. Fortuner has almost the same dimensions. But, the length is only 4,795 mm.
Engine choices for the FJ Cruiser:
The IMV 0 platform has the flexibility to use a variety of engine choices. The platform is powered by a 2.4-litre to 2.8-litre diesel engine and a 2.7-litre petrol engine. It is noteworthy that currently 2.7 liter petrol engine is used in Fortuner.
At what price is it likely to be released?
Currently, the Fortuner model is being sold at an ex-showroom price of Rs 34 lakh to Rs 52 lakh. The new FJ Cruiser model is expected to be launched at a price range of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh in India.
Will it be released in India?
Currently, the model is only confirmed to be released in Thailand first. It is said that we can expect its subsequent releases in other countries. However, the Indian release is yet to be confirmed. There is a customer market for this car in India. So, Toyota is expected to bring this car to India.
