Nilgiris: A low pressure area has formed over West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a couple of places in Tamil Nadu, Puduvai and Karaikal due to variation in speed of westerly winds.
Meanwhile, due to continuous heavy rains in the Nilgiris district, the disaster rescue teams on behalf of the police are ready in all sub-districts of the district, the control center number has been announced on behalf of the district police.

Nilgiri District Collector Alert:
While the news that landslides will occur in some places in Nilgiri district like Wayanad has been spreading on social media for the last two days, Collector Lakshmi Bhavya visited the equipment of the National Disaster Response Force at the Ooty Collector’s office today.
Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Nyadu said in a press conference, “Don’t believe the false information spread on social media that there will be landslides in some places in the Nilgiris like Wayanad. He warned that action will be taken by the police against those who spread rumours. “Also, a geological department team is coming to investigate the places where landslides are likely to occur,” he explained.
