Virudhunagar : Two people have died in an explosion at a private firecracker factory in Mayadevanpatti next to Srivilliputhur.
There is a factory named ‘Jayanti Patasu’ in Srivilliputhur next to Mayadevan Patti in Virudhunagar district. It is said that more than 60 workers are working in this factory owned by Jayaraj. The employees who came to work this morning have been looking after their work as usual. At that time, the employees were unloading the chemical raw materials for making firecrackers from the vehicle which was carrying them.
At that time, one of the chemical ingredients in it (said to be a powder for preparing Parede medicine) suddenly started to explode due to friction. The fire embers that spread from this have scattered everywhere and have started burning. Unable to control the fire, the employees immediately informed the fire department officials. Meanwhile, it has been reported that the two employees, Pulikutty and Karthi, who were working there, have died in the fire accident.
Fire department officials and emergency vehicles reached the spot and rescued the victims and sent them to the hospital and fought to bring the fire under control. It is reported that the fire was brought under control after a long struggle. Police officials including Srivilliputhur DSP who came to know about the accident are investigating the accident.
As this incident has created a lot of excitement among the people of the area, they have demanded that the government should take steps to ensure safety and carry out such dangerous work.
