Thiruvananthapuram : While a sex case has been registered against Siddiqui, it is reported that he is planning to get anticipatory bail.
When the Hema Committee report was published and created a stir, like adding fuel to the burning fire, many actresses are speaking openly about the sexual harassment that happened to them. As a result, the Malayalam Film Actors’ Association was completely dissolved yesterday in response to this, in an environment where Malayalam cinema itself is in a frenzy.
As complaints related to sex are on the rise, the Kerala government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is demanding an investigation into the matter and ensuring the safety of women. Partly based on a sexual complaint filed by actress Revathi Sampath, the police have registered a case against Malayalam actor and former general secretary of the Actors’ Association Siddique under non-bailable sections including sexual assault and death threats.
Earlier, Revathi Sampath, who gave an interview to the media, made a sensational allegation that “last year in 2016, Siddique called her to a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram and sexually harassed her, saying that he would give her a film opportunity”.
Following the allegations, actor Siddique had resigned from the post of general secretary of the Actors’ Association. In this context, while the police have registered a case against Siddique based on the sexual complaint filed by the actress, Malayalam news agencies are publishing reports that they are trying to get bail before Siddiqui is arrested.
Actor Siddique, caught in a sex case, has started trying to get anticipatory bail. In this regard, Siddique is in discussion with lawyers in Kochi. He has decided to approach the High Court for anticipatory bail as an initial plan. However, the chances of getting bail before him are very low, according to sources. Because on the complaint filed by the actress, the museum police have registered a case against Siddiqui under the non-bailable section under the sex and intimidation section.
