The Liquor Enforcement Division has arrested three people, including a woman, who were selling banned tobacco products near Kanchipuram. A case was registered, they were produced in court and all three were jailed.
In order to prevent the sale of banned tobacco products, the Police of Liquor Exclusion Enforcement Division are engaged in surveillance work in various areas of Kanchipuram district. Accordingly, the Prohibition Enforcement Division police are actively carrying out surprise raids in shops and business establishments.
In that way, information has been received that banned tobacco products are being sold in Ayyan Pettai area next to Kanchipuram. Based on that, under the leadership of Kanchipuram Liquor Enforcement Division Police DSP Sureshkumar, Sub Inspector Chandrasekaran and the police engaged in intensive surveillance in Aiyanpet area.
At that time, the Liquor Prohibition Enforcement Division police conducted a surprise raid on the shops on Ayyanpet Bazar Road. In this, 11,587 packets containing banned tobacco weighing 84 kg were seized from the shop run by Shankar Raj and Aravinda Raj of Old Seevaram village.
Similarly, 200 grams of banned tobacco products were seized from a shop run by Ms. And these three persons were arrested by Kanchipuram Prohibition Enforcement Division police and handed over to Walajabad police and recommended for further action.
Subsequently, a case was registered against Shankar Raj, Aravinda Raj and Selvi. The Walajabad police produced them in the court and jailed the three.
