Electoral Bond Case Verdict: Revision Petition Rejected by Central Govt

The Supreme Court dismissed the central government’s petition seeking a review of the decision canceling the electoral bonds scheme.

On February 15, the Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench ruled that the Election Bond scheme brought by the central BJP government was illegal. Further, the Supreme Court ruled that it was illegal for the companies to amend the Act to donate electoral bonds and condemned the central government for violating the fundamental rights of the people.

In this situation, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Central Government seeking a review of the decision canceling the Electoral Bonds Scheme. This case was decided by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court T.Y. A four-judge bench headed by Chandrachud heard earlier.

"The Supreme Court has decided to cancel the election bond system!"

At that time, they dismissed the petition saying that there was no reason to reconsider the decision canceling the electoral bonds scheme. The Supreme Court also said that there was nothing wrong with the previous judgment which canceled the electoral bonds scheme.
