MDeshabandhu Muthukumar Selvarasa, a famous businessman and president of the Batticaloa Chamber of Commerce, has provided a permanent solution to the drinking water problem that has been a long-standing problem of the Batticaloa Balasenai village.
Around 400 families live in Balarsenai village of Veppavetuan Grama Utdiyogatar Division of Battalapu-Epavoor Pattu Divisional Secretariat Division, drinking water problem has been a major problem here for a long time. 90 percent of the people here are doing wage work.
Deshabandhu Selvarasa has taken up the works to repair and construct the bore wells in the said village, but they have become damaged within a certain period of time and are not usable.
In this village there are 06 tube wells and some public wells made of stone, but all the public wells dry up during the summer season, even though there is water in the tube wells, they are broken, and the people of the area were experiencing various problems as they could not get water.
Based on this, Deshabandhu Selvarasa, who went directly to the village and inquired about the problems from the people, immediately started the repair and construction of the three broken tube wells. Along with this, he has also initiated appropriate measures to install concrete pipes and construct some permanent wells.
In addition, Deshabandhu Selvarasa said that he will make efforts to gradually solve the problem of drinking water in Balsenai village and get a solution. The people of this village appreciated Deshabandhu Selvarasa for his humanitarian work and thanked him and the social activist R. Vasantharasa who is working with him.
