The Minister of State also pointed out that some parties in the opposition party are engaged in subversive activities to disrupt the government’s program for the development of the country.
Minister of State for Power and Energy Indika Anuruddha said this at a press conference held at the Presidential Media Center today (04).
State Minister Indika Anuruddha who further commented here,
Many projects related to the power sector were stalled during the last crisis. But now agreements on debt restructuring have been reached with bilateral creditor countries and debt restructuring agreements have been signed. Therefore, the necessary legal conditions for re-starting the said projects, which were started with foreign loans and then stopped midway, have been completed. Accordingly, it must be said that the success of the debt restructuring measures will go a long way in solving the power crisis in the country.
Also, the Electricity Board, Public Utilities Commission and Ministry of Power have made appropriate calculations regarding the cost of power generation through rooftop solar installations. Accordingly, charges have been reduced. A cabinet paper in this regard was submitted last week. Accordingly, it was able to apply for power purchase contracts at lower prices. By taking such measures, the Electricity Board has been able to function without interruption.
Also, further work related to the Adani project like feasibility studies and environmental reports is still going on. After completion of these matters, there is a discussion on whether it is possible to operate according to the existing prices.
It is seen that some sections of the opposition parties are engaged in subversive activities to disrupt the government’s program to develop the country. They mentioned such false concepts even during the construction of power plants like Uma Oya and Sampur.
