The Directorate of College Education has announced that the classes for first year undergraduate students in Government Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu for the year 2024-25 will begin on July 3.
There are 171 Government Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu. The Directorate of College Education has released the revised schedule following the extension of the application date for these government arts and science colleges from May 20 to May 24.
According to the new schedule, the merit list of applicants for government arts and science colleges will be released on May 27. Earlier, the last date to apply for undergraduate courses was May 20. But, later the deadline was extended to May 24.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of College Education said that the first phase of counseling will be held from June 10 to 15 and the second phase of counseling from June 24 to 29.
In this situation, like last year, the Tamil Nadu government has planned to increase the number of seats in government colleges by 20% this year to meet the increasing demand, according to the Directorate of College Education.
We have asked all the colleges to submit details of the number of faculty members admitted and the number of students in their respective institutions. Usually, we collect the details after the admission process starts, but this time we have collected all the information beforehand, said the Directorate of College Education.
