The High Court has acquitted everyone in the Dr. Subbiah murder case.
The Madras High Court has acquitted nine people including seven who were sentenced to death in the neurologist Subbiah murder case.
The verdict was given on the appeal against the life sentence in neurologist Subbiah’s murder case.
In 2013, neurologist Subbiah was hacked to death by mercenaries in Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai, in a land dispute. Subsequently, 10 people were arrested in the case. Among the 10 people arrested, Ayyappan was acquitted. And because he was a state witness, no punishment was imposed on him.
The case was heard in the Chennai Additional Sessions Court before Judge Alli and the accused Ponnuchami, Mary Pushpam, Williams, Esu Rajan, Boris, James Satishkumar, Selva Prakash, Murugan and Basil were all 9 accused.
Seven people were sentenced to death and two were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Subbiah murder case. Teacher Ponnusamy, sons lawyer Basil, engineer Boris, William, Dr. James Satishkumar, engineer Murugan, Selvaprakash and seven others including Ponnusamy’s wife Mary Pushpam and mercenary kabaddi player Esurajan were sentenced to double life imprisonment.

Also, all 9 persons filed an appeal in the High Court against the sentence imposed. Subsequently, the bench of Justices S.S. Sunder – Sunder Mohan heard the appeal of 9 criminals and acquitted all of them.
