Assembly elections for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are being held in three phases. Elections were held for 24 constituencies on September 18 and for 26 constituencies on September 25. The 3rd and final round of elections for 40 constituencies was held on October 1 last.
In 2019, Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, was repealed. It is the first Legislative Assembly election to be held after that. So this election is seen as very important.
The last phase of polling was held for 40 constituencies in 7 districts namely Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Udhampur, Champa, Kathua and Jammu. 415 candidates are in the fray in the final phase of the election.
17 of them are ex-ministers, 8 are ex-MLAs and 4 are voluntary retired government officials. 39.18 lakh voters are eligible to vote in the third phase election. 5,060 polling booths have been set up. More than 20 thousand election workers are involved in the election work. Vigilance was intensified at polling stations across Jammu and Kashmir.

According to current predictions, Jammu votes are available. After that, the National Conference Party is predicted to get 36 percent, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party 5 percent and other parties 18 percent.
