BMW R 1300 GS: Variants
BMW has launched three variants of the 1300 GS bike namely the GS Trophy, Triple Black and the optional 719 Tramuntana.
Each of these variants is tuned accordingly with features for specific use.
The GS Trophy variant gets additional features and tuning for sporty riding and off riding.
The triple black variant has overall features to be an all-rounder suitable for all kinds of applications.
The top end option 719 Tramuntana variant comes with premium amenities. Important safety features like active cruise control, front collision warning and a green/yellow paint scheme are exclusive to this variant.
BMW R 1300 GS: Engine
The previous 1250 GS model was powered by a 1,254cc engine. The engine was capable of producing 134hp of power and 143Nm of torque.
The new 1300 GS model is powered by a 1,300cc twin-cylinder engine. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 145hp and 149Nm of torque.
The 1300 GS model has a 19 liter fuel tank and weighs 237 kg. It is 12 kg lighter than the previous 1250 GS model
BMW R 1300 GS: Features
BMW has offered alloy wheels or spoked rims on the R 1300 GS model sold in overseas automobile markets.
However, the company has given cross-spoke tubeless wheels as standard on all the variants launched in India.
Also, BMW has given the Comfort and Dynamics package as standard on all variants. These packages offer electronic windshield, bidirectional quickshifter, center stand, pro riding modes and many more.
Apart from the base Light Wide model, BMW also offers the Touring Package as standard on other variants.
The 1300 GS variant sold in India only gets the Adaptive Ride Height feature in the Triple Black variant. That means we can change the height of the seat according to our height.
BMW R 1300 GS: Competitors
BMW’s R 1300 GS is rivaled by the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro, Ducati Multistrada V4 lineup and Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 Special in India.
Of these, only the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro model is selling at a price of Rs.19.19 lakh less than this 1300 GS model.
The other two models are being sold at a higher price than this. The Ducati Multistrada V4 model is priced between Rs 21.48 lakh and Rs 31.48 lakh.
Similarly, Harley Davidson’s Pan America 1250 Special bike model is priced at Rs 24.64 lakh ex-showroom.
BMW will begin deliveries of the R 1300 GS across India this June itself.
