Case of murder of female training doctor. The Supreme Court came forward to investigate.

Delhi : A hearing in the case of the murder of a female practicing doctor in Kolkata will be held today before a bench of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

On August 9, a female trainee doctor was sexually assaulted and murdered in a seminar at the RG Kar Hospital College campus in Kolkata, West Bengal. The massacre created a sensation across the country.

Initially, the Kolkata Police had arrested one person and was investigating the case, but on August 13, the case was handed over to the CBI in the name of the state High Court’s order.

The Supreme Court itself took up the investigation regarding the murder case of a female practicing doctor, which faced a lot of shock and various protests across the country. Presided over by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, TY Chandrachud, the trial of the case related to the assassination of the practicing doctor is going to begin today at 10.30 am.

In this case, the Association of Medical Consultants of India (FAMCI) and the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) have filed a writ petition asking them to come forward and hear their demands.

In their petition, the medical associations said, “Action should be taken regarding the safety of the staff working in the hospitals and the unusual conditions prevailing in the hospitals at times. The central government should establish a legal system for this. Also, the Center should be urged to remove the differences in state-wise laws for the protection of doctors.” As stated in this interlocutory petition.

In the wake of protests following the killing of a female practicing doctor in Kolkata, the Union Health Department issued an important statement. In case of any security threats or attacks on the hospital staff, a first information report should be filed within the next 6 hours regarding the incident. If it was not recorded, the hospital administration was held responsible.
