According to Chennai Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate rain in 7 districts in Tamil Nadu for the next 3 hours.
The low pressure area that prevailed in the South West Bay of Bengal area yesterday has moved in the northeast direction and a deep low pressure area is prevailing in the Midwest and adjoining South Bay of Bengal areas. It is likely to move further northeastward and strengthen as a low pressure area over Central Bay of Bengal this morning.
After that, it will move further northeastwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm, likely to prevail over East Bay of Bengal tomorrow morning. Due to this, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning and gusty winds (30 kmph to 40 kmph) may occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puduvai and Karaikal today on 24.05.2024. Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Theni and Dindigul districts are likely to receive heavy rain at one or two places.
In this situation, the Chennai Meteorological Center has informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain in 7 districts in the next 3 hours. According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, 7 districts namely Tirupur, Coimbatore, Tenkasi, Nellai, Nilgiris, Kanyakumari and Dindigul are likely to receive moderate rain.
