It has been raining extensively in various parts of Tamil Nadu for the past few days. It is raining widely in the districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur, especially in the northern parts of Tamil Nadu. It is raining with strong winds in the evening as well. Due to this, the effect of heat is reduced and a pleasant environment prevails.
It rained extensively in various parts of Chennai last night. Meanwhile, the Chennai Meteorological Center has said that the rain will continue till 10 am today and there is a possibility of light rain. According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, 7 districts namely Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Tenkasi, Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Dindigul are likely to receive light rain till 10 am.
The Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts have also been receiving heavy rains for the past few days. Dewala and Bandalur areas of Nilgiri district are receiving heavy rain. Due to this, various villages in the areas have been flooded. Due to this, the normal life of the people has been severely affected.
As the Southwest Monsoon is spreading across the country, it is raining in Tamil Nadu as well. Heavy rain lashed the Nilgiris district at dawn. Due to this the low lying areas are surrounded by rain water. Only schools have been declared closed in Gudalur and Bandalur taluks due to heavy rains.
District Collector Aruna has ordered to declare holiday only for schools due to heavy rain. Due to heavy rain, the water bodies there are also filling up fast. Normal life of people has been severely affected due to continuous heavy rains.
