Chennai Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the greenfield route between Bengaluru and Bengaluru will be inaugurated before December.
Highways are being constructed by the Central Highways Department to provide quick access between the cities of the country. Accordingly, Bengaluru-Chennai expressway is one of the 36 greenfield expressways currently under construction.
17,930 crore, the 262 km Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway passes through Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Of this, the road is 85 km in Tamil Nadu, 71 km in Andhra Pradesh and 106 km in Karnataka. The highway will be eight-lane for a total length of 240 km. The government has acquired a total of 2650 hectares of land for this project. Mainly 90% of this road has no speed brake.
In this context, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari speaking at an event held in Bengaluru on Thursday said, “The Rs 17,930 crore Bengaluru-Chennai greenfield corridor will reduce the travel time between the two cities to just two hours. The construction work of this expressway is going on fast now,” he said.
Also, this greenfield route is PM Narendra Modi Nitin Gadkari also said that he will open it before December.
