In 2019, Vande Bharat was operated for the first time in India between Delhi and Varanasi. This train is continuously operated on the main routes of the country. More than 26 Vande Bharat trains are running to various major cities of the country.

For Tamil Nadu, Chennai-Tirunelveli, Chennai-Mysore, Chennai-Coimbatore, Coimbatore-Bangalore, Chennai-Vijayawada, Egmore-Nagarkoil routes are operated.
Southern districts

Elmpur-Nagarkoil
Vande Bharat train runs from Chennai to Nagercoil only on Thursdays of the week. Passengers kept demanding that it should be run as a daily train. Accordingly, a weekly train is operated between Chennai Egmore-Nagarkoil
Railway Board has decided to run daily train.
