Anjali and Mahesh Kumar have said that they have no children and that they have a 15-day-old baby girl in Bihar. If you pay two and a half lakhs, they have promised to give you a child with your name and birth certificate along with Aadhaar card.
A child brought from Bihar
While Vijayan agreed to it, Anjali informed her mother in Bihar, and on that information Anjali’s mother Poonam Devi and her younger daughter Megha Kumari from Bihar brought the 15-day-old baby girl from Bihar to Sulur 20 days ago. After that, Anjali and Mahesh Kumar gave the child to the couple, who, as they spoke to the farmer Vijayan, received two and a half lakh rupees and gave the child.
Anti Child Trafficking Unit Child Line
In this negotiation, 1 lakh 80 thousand money was paid in the bank and the remaining 70 thousand rupees were to be paid to Vijayan Anjali and Mahesh couple. A social activist from Sulur, who came to know about this, informed the District Child Trafficking Prevention Unit, Child Line.
An All-Women Police Station
On that information, the Child Line organization rushed to the spot and carried out a serious investigation. In that investigation, it was revealed that the child was kidnapped and sold for two and a half lakh rupees. As there was no information about the person who confirmed the sale of the child and the person who bought it, they filed a complaint at the All Women Police Station. Based on the complaint, an investigation was carried out and a special team was formed under the leadership of S. P. Thangaraman, Inspector Sumathi of the Women’s Police, and an investigation was conducted into the sale of children.
Pending cases
In that investigation, Bihar couple Anjali and Mahesh Kumar, who ran the hotel, were arrested by the police. On investigation, it was revealed that not only a girl child but also a boy child was sold to a lorry driver from Andhra Pradesh for a price of five lakh rupees. The police rescued the two children and produced the couple in court. It was also revealed that a case is pending against them under sections including sale of ganja in the police stations of Sampatti, Sulur and Sultanpet.
Child selling gangs came to Coimbatore
After that, the couple was sent to jail and the investigation is ongoing. The police also arrested Vijayan, the farmer who bought the child. Anjali’s mother and her younger sister, who had brought the child from Bihar, were summoned to Coimbatore and arrested.
Bihar mother sells baby for Rs 1500
After intensive investigation, a poor couple in Bihar already had two sons and a third daughter was born and they were struggling to raise the child. They told them that they would bring up this girl child themselves and admitted that they bought the child for 1500 rupees and sold it in Coimbatore.
Appeared in Sullur Criminal Court
Also, the special police who arrested them have appeared in the Sullur Criminal Arbitration Court and imprisoned them. While five people have been arrested in connection with child selling, the Tamil Nadu police have started an intensive investigation to see if any other children have been sold.
