Civil servants should vote responsibly

With postal voting going on, civil servants should use their votes responsibly. Don’t be fooled by fake promises. President Ranil Wickramasinghe himself has presented practical issues, said Maruthapandi Rameswaran, Vice President of the Sri Lanka Workers’ Congress and Member of Parliament for Nuwara Eliya District.

He said this while addressing the campaign meeting held today (02) in Diagama area in support of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Minister Jeevan Thondaman’s advisory committee, MP M. Rameshwaran led the meeting and the party’s national organizer AP Sakthivel and many other party dignitaries participated in the meeting.

He further said,

“How was the country two years ago? The Sequential Age was born. People living in urban and rural areas faced great hardships. Some even starved. But after President Ranil Wickremesinghe assumed power, he brought the country back to normalcy, ending the era of succession.

Our General Secretary Minister Jeevan Thondaman has made a request to the President that land rights should be given to the hilly people. A solution has been provided for that too. A proposal has also been made for the housing issue. The demand regarding education has also been fulfilled.

This is why we request you to support Ranil Wickramasinghe in the presidential election. Within a span of one year, he has made massive improvements. Therefore, if we give him another five years, the country and the people will surely progress.

Some people are making fake and impractical promises with the aim of capturing power. People should not be fooled by this. The progress of our society depends on the development of education.

Postal voting will be held ahead of the presidential election.

Therefore, civil servants should use their vote properly. The President is also fulfilling the demands of government employees. 10,000 allowance was given despite the economic crisis. Therefore, civil servants should vote responsibly. If we vote on false promises, there will be no country.” – he said.
