Chennai: The Transport Authority has directed that CNG/LPG conversion of vehicles by unauthorized companies should not be done.
In recent times, it has become common for some motor vehicles to spontaneously combust. In this case, unauthorized CNG, LPG conversions should not be done in motor vehicles.
The government has said that it is a crime to change vehicles without proper permission from the regional transport office. The vehicle owner has also been advised not to engage in such activities.
The Transport Authority has given an explanation in this regard. Unauthorized fitting of CNG, LPG equipment installed by third parties and unqualified companies is one of the main evidences in investigating the causes of the fire accident.
In order to prevent fire accidents, the Transport Commissioner, Transport and Road Safety Commission has advised all vehicle owners not to engage in such unauthorized modifications.
