Revenue Secretary, Commissioner and 3 District Collectors to appear in person in contempt of court case against Deputy District Collectors regarding promotion Chennai The High Court has ordered.
Further, the judge has verbally warned that if these officers do not appear on July 27, a warrant will be issued.
The Madras High Court had ruled that the government employees selected by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) should be promoted on the basis of marks. The Supreme Court heard the case filed against this judgment and upheld the judgment of the High Court.
In this context, Deputy District Collectors were promoted to District Commissioners in Krishnagiri, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram districts on the basis of reservation. Opposing this, Deputy District Collector from Chengalpattu district S. Srinivasan, Deputy District Collector Velu from Krishnagiri District filed a case in the Madras High Court.
The Madras High Court heard the case and ordered to quash the order of promotion of District Collector under reservation system.
Due to non-implementation of this order of the Madras High Court, the Deputy District Collectors who were affected by the promotion filed a contempt of court case.
Contempt of Court cases pursued by Deputy District Collectors Madras High Court Judge G.K. Ilandraiyan came to trial earlier. At that time, on July 27, Revenue Department Secretary V. Rajaraman, Revenue Commissioner S.K. Prabhakar, Krishnagiri District Collector K.M. Sarayu, Kanchipuram District Collector Kalachelvi Mohan, Chengalpattu District Collector S. Arunraj was ordered to appear in person.
Further, Justice Ilandraiyan gave a verbal warning that if these officers do not appear in person, arrest warrants will be issued against them.
