An Injunction Order was yesterday issued preventing the decision to appoint Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Minister
Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe PC as the Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) by the Colombo District Court.
The Colombo District Court also issued another Injunction Order preventing SLFP Acting General Secretary Sarathi Dushmantha Mithrapala from acting as the General Secretary of the Party and issued another injunction preventing the implementation of the decisions taken by the Acting General Secretary.
After considering a case filed by SLFP MP Duminda Dissanayake, Transport State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Agriculture and Plantation industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, the injunctions were issued by Colombo Chief District Judge Sandun Vithana.
In the petition, the petitioners filed this petition seeking interim injunctions to prevent the decision that was taken at the party meeting which was held April 21, 2024 to appoint Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe PC as the Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and preventing SLFP Acting General Secretary Sarathi Dushmantha Mithrapala from acting as the General Secretary and the preventing the implementation of the decisions taken by the Acting General Secretary.
After considering the petition the Colombo District Court issued injunction orders and it will remain in effect until May 8.
The petition had cited SLFP Acting General Secretary Sarathi Dushmantha Mithrapala, its Acting Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva, President’s Counsel Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and its Vice President Thilanga Sumathipala as the respondents.
