Dead turtles washed ashore in Puttalam

Fishermen report that turtles are washing ashore due to the change in the deep sea in Puttalam district.

In that way, it has been observed that two large turtles were washed ashore in a dead state yesterday (3) morning in the areas between Chinnappattu and Poonpitti.

The fishermen mentioned that the two turtles that have washed ashore are about 3 feet long and weigh between 25 and 50 kilograms.

Both the turtles are reported to belong to the Olive Redly variety.

Similarly, last week too, a large sea turtle was washed ashore dead in Udappu estuary.

The fishermen said that they have informed the wildlife department officials about the turtles being washed ashore.
