Meanwhile, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has slammed Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni for coming to bat at number 9 during the match against Punjab Kings.
Dhoni, who has batted in 7 matches so far this season, has scored 110 runs at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 224.49. Dhoni scored 14 runs against Punjab in Chennai and was run-out in the last ball of the match. But in yesterday’s match, Dhoni batted at number 9 for the first time this season. Dhoni got out as a golden duck in the 18.5th over by Harshal Patel.
Irfan Pathan spoke on Star Sports channel about Dhoni’s dismissal. .“MS Dhoni batting at number 9 is not going to do any good for Chennai Super Kings. Similarly, neither will help the team. I know he’s 42, but he’s in solid shape.
He has to shoulder the responsibility of batting at the top order. He should bat at least 4 to 5 overs. He is batting in the last over or the last 2 overs and that will not help CSK in the long run.”
Let’s see CSK qualify for the playoffs from here. But, they need to win 90 percent of their games. As an in-form veteran, he should bat down the order. Sometimes he can’t repeat what he did.
He made an impact against Mumbai, but here, when the team needs him, you can’t send Shardul Thakur up to bat. You can’t see Dhoni batting at number 9.
