On the occasion of the country’s 75th Independence Day, the Central Government released the list of recipients of the Padma Awards for 2024 in January. This year 132 Padma awards were announced. Accordingly, the Padma Awards ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi today.
The Padma Bhushan Award was announced to Vijayakanth, the late actor and Demudika leader, in the arts category. In that way, Premalatha Vijaykanth, Vijaya Prabhakaran, Sudish and some DMD officials went to Delhi Rashtrapati Bhavan and received the award.
Before receiving the award, Premalatha Vijayakanth spoke with the press. Speaking at that time, he said, “There is a great pain of not having a captain.. However, the entire DMUDIKA is proud to receive this high award given by the central government..
We are going to present this award directly to the captain even though he is not with us. Not only that, but to all the dear souls who loved him, we present this highest award of Captain, Padma Bhushan to the administrators and volunteers of DMUD.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been invited to have dinner at his home. This is not only for us but also for all the Padma awardees.
Also, tomorrow there is going to be a big appreciation ceremony for the captain on behalf of the Tamil Association in Delhi.. We will attend this appreciation ceremony and then return to Chennai.
