Indian wrestler Vinesh Bhog’s plea to award silver medal rejected
Vinesh Bhogat was disqualified before the finals of the 50 kg category at the Paris Olympics for being overweight by 100 grams. Vinesh Phogat had filed an appeal at the International Court of Arbitration for Sport challenging the disqualification and seeking a share of the silver medal. The judgment in the case was adjourned 3 times while the hearing on his plea was completed.
In this situation, the International Sports Appellate Tribunal has ruled out that the silver medal cannot be distributed to Vinesh Phogat. In this case, the Indian Olympic Association has announced that the next step in the Vinesh Bhogat case will be decided soon.
