Pancha Kalyani marriage
It is said that there has been no rain in this village for the last 6 months. Due to this there is severe drought and water scarcity. In this situation, the villagers decided to marry Pancha Kalyani, an event in which donkeys are married to pray for rain.
Groom, Bride
Accordingly, a wedding ceremony was held for the donkeys at the Subramanian temple today. In connection with this wedding, a female donkey from Lakkepalayam was brought as the bride, followed by a male donkey from the neighboring village of Kovilpalayam as the groom.
Decoration
On top of this, the female donkey is tied with a sari, bangles, moss, dressed, lipstick and nail polish are applied to the bride. Similarly, the male donkey is dressed in vest and shawl and the bridegroom’s decorations are grand.
Married to a Donkey
Following this, the bridegroom and the bride were called on behalf of the villagers. After the puja in the temple, the female donkey was given a thali to play the drum and the donkey was married.

The people living in the village said that it is believed that if donkeys are married, rain will fall in that town, and when there was a severe drought 35 years ago, it rained after marrying donkeys.

All the villagers said that this marriage was conducted in a simple manner and that the marriage was conducted in the manner of human marriage. This was followed by a house call in the village. More than that, those who came to the wedding paid money. In this way, those who got married were given kampangul.
