Based on the information received by the Central Narcotics Control Unit officials about smuggling of drugs from Chennai to Sri Lanka via Ramanathapuram, the Narcotics Control Unit officers were engaged in intensive surveillance at the Klambakkam bus station next to Chennai.
At that time, a person named Faizul Rahman, who was standing as a suspect with the identifications mentioned in the information received by the Anti-Narcotics Unit officials, was arrested and interrogated. During investigation, 6 kg of methamphetamine was seized from him. Based on the information given by Faizul Rahman, the officers of the Anti-Narcotics Unit investigated another person from Chengundram in connection with this drug smuggling. This person’s information resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine hidden in a cotton pad. According to this, a total of 6 kg 920 g of methamphetamine drug worth around Rs 70 crore was seized, officials of the Anti-Narcotics Division said.
In this drug smuggling incident, the officers of the Anti-Narcotics Division have arrested a total of 3 persons namely Faizul Rahman, Ibrahim and Mansoor. From the arrested persons Rs. 7 lakh cash was seized.
