Earthquake : A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the Bonin Islands in Japan.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Japan’s Bonin Island today (April 27). The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 503.2 km (312 mi) underground.
It has been said that no tsunami warning has been issued for this earthquake, even though it occurred in the sea island region. Earlier this year, an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale occurred in Japan.
The data indicates that Japan experiences more than 6 earthquakes per year due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, and 20 percent of the world’s earthquakes occur in Japan alone.
