Fixation of age limit for TNPSC Block-2 posts is for social justice
Ramadoss, the founder of Bamaka, who has said the opposite, has insisted on immediate withdrawal.

In a statement issued by him in this regard, the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has announced the Batch 2/2A examinations to select eligible candidates for 2327 vacancies in a total of 61 types of jobs such as Assistant Commercial Tax Officer, Deputy Registrar, Forester, Assistants for various departments in Tamil Nadu government departments. In the notification published for this purpose, the age limit has been set as never before for many jobs, which has caused a great shock among the candidates.

Generally there is no age limit for the reservation category for Block 2/2A jobs. Up to 59 can apply for these jobs with a tenure of one year. However, in the notification for the current year, among the 13 posts announced in the second batch, the maximum age limit for Deputy Commercial Tax Officer, Registrar, Forester and Probation Officer has been announced as 37 years. Age limit has been fixed for 446 posts out of total 2327 notified posts. Vacancies for these posts are more in case of block 2 exams.

So, a large number of people will apply with the intention of getting these jobs. But suddenly the age limit has been set so that no one above 37 years of age in the reservation category can apply for these jobs. This has caused great disappointment to the youth who are preparing themselves for competitive exams for government jobs. It is against social justice.

Prior to this, the recruitment notification for Block 2/2A jobs for the year 2022 was published on 23.02.2022. There is no upper age limit for any job reservation category. But, two years later, why was the new age limit imposed in the recruitment announcement for the current year’s Block 2/2A jobs? Has the government taken a policy decision on this matter of social justice? Did the authorities take it? The Government Staff Selection Commission should give an explanation.

Apart from that, Clause 4.1.2.2 regarding relaxation of age limit for reservation category in recruitment notification is not clear. 4.1.1.2 appears to have been half-edited and published. It cannot be justified that the recruitment notifications issued by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, a constitutional body, are published with such confusion.

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission should withdraw the decision fixing the maximum age limit for batch 2/2A posts of the Public Service Commission. He said that he would insist that a clear notification should be issued afresh with the details of the age limit for the reservation category.
