Various welfare schemes have been announced for the historical and famous temples located in Madurai district.

Welfare Schemes for Temples:

While the Tamil Nadu Assembly session has started since June 20, yesterday (June 26) Wednesday, various welfare schemes were announced for major temples across Tamil Nadu.

What are the plans for Madurai district temples?

In that way, Hindu religious welfare minister Shekhar Babu has announced in the Legislative Assembly that a whole day alms program will be implemented at Alagar Temple, one of the 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams, where Mangalasasanam was chanted by the Alwars, located 21 kilometers from Madurai district.

Also, senior citizens between the ages of 60 and 70 who are unable to visit Lord Muruga’s Arupada houses including Thiruparangunram due to old age and lack of facilities will be taken on a spiritual journey this year. He also announced that the government will bear the expenses for this.

Announcements made by Minister Shekhar Babu:

Apart from this, for the welfare of the children of the priests working in the one-time puja program in the temple, this year 500 students will be given a scholarship of ten thousand rupees each.

Currently, 11 temples are implementing the program of giving food to the devotees throughout the day and this year this program is going to be extended to the temples of Madurai district, Alaghar Temple, Kallazhaghar Temple and Coimbatore Marudamalai Subramanya Swamy Temple.

In Tamilnadu Temples, Annadana program is going on in 360 temples. This year the program will be expanded to 6 more temples

The scheme of offering Prasad to devotees throughout the day in temples is currently implemented in 20 temples and this year the scheme will be expanded to 5 more temples.

He has also announced many actionable announcements including, “This year, many devotees between the ages of 60 and 70 years will be taken on a spiritual journey from Rameswaram Ramanatha Swamy Temple to Kashi Vishwanath Temple.”
