Bangalore-based artist Divya Negiya created this doodle. The doodle features Indian wrestler Hamita Banu with the word ‘Google’ emblazoned on the background, adorned with flora and fauna.

On this day in 1954, he defeated the famous wrestler Baba Pahlwan in 1 minute 34 seconds in a wrestling match.
This earned him international recognition. But, he is said to have retired from wrestling after that.
Google’s explanation of Doodle
Women’s participation in wrestling was strongly discouraged by the prevailing social norms of the time. But Banu was passionate and wanted to somehow compete with men.
He has also challenged and defeated many male wrestlers. Once Banu was defeated, she married the warrior who defeated her.
