Ramadoss, the founder of BAMA, said that no action has been taken by the government regarding illegal sand mining in Thanjavur district.

No action has been taken by the government regarding illegal sand mining in Thanjavur district. People who inform about sand robbery are threatened. Sugarcane cultivation is gradually declining. If this situation continues, Tamil Nadu sugar mills will have to close down. Electricity tariff has been increased 3 times in last two years in Tamil Nadu. However, the power board is reporting a loss. Despite an additional revenue of Rs.18,400 crore, the loss has increased to Rs.10,000 crore.
The government has said that there has been a loss of Rs 3420 crore in 2022 and Rs 34000 crore in 2023. This shows that corruption is rampant. The government claims to generate an additional revenue of Rs 2,400 crore each time through electricity bills. A white paper will be issued on the loss even after the tariff hike.
To prevent this, central and state governments should take steps to increase the purchase price of sugarcane. Backward and tribal members were selected in school management committees. This year they have been denied a chance. This is not fair. 20,000 should be fixed for the temporary works of the government department. While the government has ordered to pay Rs.600 per day to unorganized daily wage workers, giving Rs.200 to temporary workers is anti-labour. Budget should not discriminate between states. “In private schools, charging high fees from students and paying low salaries to teachers is exploitation,” he said.
