In Tamil Nadu, the summer heat has been raging since the beginning of April. Due to this, the common people had to face such difficulty that they could not go out. On 4th May, the Kathri Veil began and the people were in fear.
But summer rains have been falling in many districts for the last one week and are easing the heat. Due to heavy rains there was flooding in the waterfalls in the districts including Theni. The rain has calmed the summer heat and brought happiness among the people. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has warned that it will rain in many districts till May 19.
In this situation, the Revenue and Disaster Management Authority has issued a heavy rain warning for 26 districts. In it, “An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rains in Tenkasi, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts on May 18. Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts from May 19,” it said.
He further said, “All departments of the district administration should be fully prepared to face the heavy rains. People in low-lying areas should be moved to safer places and relief camps should be set up.
The people living along the shores should also be accommodated in safe places and provided with basic facilities. “Precautionary measures should be taken to avoid damages due to heavy rains,” it has been advised.
