Heavy Rain In Nine Districts Include Chennai Weather Alert : Chance of rain in 9 districts : People of Chennai be careful

While the Southwest Monsoon is intense in Kerala and Karnataka, its impact is reverberating in Tamil Nadu as well. It is raining in Western Ghats including Coimbatore and Nilgiris. A few places in Tamil Nadu recorded rain in the last 24 hours. Dry weather prevailed in Puducherry and Karaikal.

In this context, in a press release issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department, “Atmospheric low circulation is prevailing over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. Also, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today due to western velocities. Also, strong ground winds may gust up to 30 to 40 kmph.

Especially Ranipet, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nilgiris
Districts, hilly areas of Coimbatore district, Puducherry areas are likely to receive heavy rain,” it said.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puduvai and Karaikal tomorrow, and strong land winds at a speed of 30 – 40 kmph are expected in hilly areas of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Cuddalore, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagai, Mayiladuthurai, districts and Karaikal areas are also likely to experience heavy rain.

On 6th and 7th August at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur over parts and thundershowers at a couple of places in Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal on 8th.
And light to moderate rain with lightning is also reported. It has also said that light to moderate rain may occur at a couple of places in Tamil Nadu on August 9 and 10, Puduwai and Karaikal.
