Mumbai : Normal life of people has been affected due to heavy rains in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
Maharashtra has been receiving heavy rains for the past few days as the southwest monsoon is intensifying. Heavy rains started in Mumbai and its surrounding areas in Maharashtra at 1 am today and continued till 7 am.
Due to this heavy rain that fell for about 6 hours, the normal life of the people was completely affected and the traffic was also severely affected due to waterlogging on the main roads. Also, as a precaution, schools and colleges in Mumbai have declared a holiday today. It has been reported that 300 mm of rain has been recorded in this heavy rain that fell continuously for 6 hours.
Also, due to heavy rains, electric train transport has also been completely affected due to waterlogging in suburban railway stations of Mumbai. Due to this, the train tracks are also flooded and 5 long distance trains have been completely canceled and bus services have also been disrupted. Due to this, the common people there have been greatly affected.
Also, the IMD has issued a Yellow Alert in Pune, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Amaravati and Nagpur districts of Maharashtra. Further, heavy rain will continue for the next 2 to 3 days (July-10..) and the Meteorological Department has said that the rain will decrease gradually after 3 days.
In Mumbai, rescue workers are working hard to rescue people in flood-affected areas due to rains. Also, as heavy rains will continue for the next 3 days, residents of low-lying areas in yellow warning areas are advised to take precautions.
