Honda is about to re-enter the 1000cc bike segment in India. Yes, the company has now applied for a patent for the design of their new ‘CB1000 Hornet’ bike model in India. The CB1000 Hornet is an updated model of the CB1000 R Neo Cafe model that was previously sold in India. The company had launched this model in the international market last year.
The Honda CB1000 Hornet is reminiscent of a Ducati Streetfighter with a sharp design. Also, the CB1000 Hornet gets a 999cc inline-four-cylinder engine that churns out 147hp of power and 100Nm of torque. While the engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the entire setup is fitted into a trellis frame.
Suspension setups include a Showa fork at the front and a Pro-Link mono shock at the rear. Both side suspensions are adjustable for pre-load and rebound. 17-inch wheels are provided on both sides, with dual disc brake at the front and single disc brake at the rear. Apart from the mechanicals, the CB1000 Hornet also has some great features.
Throttle-by-wire system, 5.0 inch TFT display and three riding modes will be offered in this new CB1000 Hornet bike. Currently, Honda is selling only Africa Twin and Gold Wing bikes above 1000cc in India. Apart from this, Honda is selling 750cc Transalp, 500cc NX500 and five CB series bikes through their Big Wing showrooms.
Joining the lineup is the new CB series bike and the new 1000cc bike, the CB1000 Hornet. There is no information on when Honda plans to launch this bike in India specifically. The bike is expected to be launched in India at a price of Rs 15 lakh.
