  • Jaggery = half spoon

Spices are required for grinding

  • Duvaram dal = two spoons
  • Chickpeas = one spoon

  • Fenugreek quarter spoon
  • Pepper and cumin= half spoon

Seasoning required

  • Peanut oil = four spoons
  • Ghee = 3 tbsp
  • Mustard = half spoon
  • Vara chilli = two
  • Fenugreek = quarter spoon
  • Garlic=5 cloves
  • Onions = 20
  • Tomatoes = one

Spice powders

  • Curry powder = 2 spoons
  • Chilli powder= one spoon
  • Turmeric powder= quarter spoon

Recipe:

First, roast duvaram dal, dal, coriander, mustard, fenugreek and cumin until golden brown and make powder. Pour four spoons of coconut oil in a pan and lightly fry the pumpkin slices in it and keep aside.

Now in the same oil, add half a spoon of mustard, a quarter spoon of fenugreek seeds, black pepper and season it. Then add crushed garlic and small onions and saute until glassy. Add tomato and saute well. Then add curry powder, chili powder, turmeric powder and mix it and pour tamarind solution.

Now add required amount of salt and two tumblers of water and boil well, when the gravy dries up to some extent add pumpkin and jaggery. Boil it for five minutes and add three spoons of ghee. Now boil this gravy until the oil separates and let it boil and the kahamamavena wathal gravy is ready.
