President Ranil Wickramasinghe has said that he is the only leader who will protect the rights of Muslim people among the candidates contesting in this election.
The President, who was a special guest at the conference of the National Congress Party held today (23) regarding Akkarai, said this.
He said not to be afraid, we will provide security for the Muslim people and promised that there will not be any problem in future.
He said that he has apologized for the activities related to the cremation of corpses during the last Covid period and mentioned that steps will be taken to provide compensation to the affected people.
The President said that the responsibility of enacting a law to prevent such problems from arising again has been handed over to Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabri. When that law comes into effect, those who want to cremate and burn the dead bodies will have the opportunity to hand them over to the medical faculties if not. However, he said that there will be no more problems like in the past.
