It is seen as a legitimate victory for Trump, who is looking to run for re-election.
The ruling does not completely dismiss allegations that Trump conspired to alter the outcome of the 2020 election. However, it did away with key elements of the case against him.
The President may be exempted from official duties. But the Supreme Court held that it has no scope in non-official functions.
After the Supreme Court’s decision, Trump said on his Truth social media that it was a huge victory for the US Constitution and democracy.
