India has been the top tourist destination for Maldives for many years. But according to the latest list, India has moved to the sixth position. And due to the lack of Indian arrivals, the income of workers who depend on the tourism industry in the Maldives has come down sharply.

The presidential election of Maldives was held last year. Mohammed Muisu won it. Maldives led by him started giving importance to China, excluding India. Not only that, Muisu also sent the Indian soldiers who were working there to be sent back to the country. This led to a bitter diplomatic exchange between India and the Maldives.

Apart from that, Prime Minister Modi went to Lakshadweep and held a photoshoot to increase tourism in India, apart from Maldives. The Maldivian ministers criticized this too and earned the wrath of the Indians. To increase the number of Indians, the country’s minister had asked Indians to come. Even though there are many issues between India and Maldives, India has never refused the assistance requested by Maldives. India continues to provide various assistance to the country.
Tourism Minister Harin Fernando has said that Sri Lanka is benefiting from the problem between India and Maldives. Speaking to the journalist, Sri Lankan Tourism Minister Fernando said that India was at the top of the list of tourist destinations for Maldives. But now it is in sixth place. On the other hand, the number of Indians visiting Sri Lanka has doubled. The number of Indian tourists has increased to 34,400 in January this year from 13,759 in January last year.

Speaking further, the country’s Tourism Minister Fernando said that India and Sri Lanka have good relations in business and tourism and Sri Lanka is ready to do more things if India comes. He said that Sri Lanka has many tourist attractions such as beaches, casinos, Ramayana events and ancient Hindu temples.

Apart from that, Fernando proudly said that in a week only 80 flights leave from Sri Lanka for India. He also said that by 2030, India will reach the fourth position in the list of countries with people who want to travel and this will benefit Sri Lanka immensely.

In that way, Sri Lanka is benefiting from the problem between India and the Maldives and Sri Lanka’s Tourism Minister Harin Fernando has said that Sri Lanka is benefiting from this.
