Chennai : India takes over Iran port for 10 years
India has tendered a 10-year contract to develop Iran’s strategic Chabahar port Waterways Minister Sarbananda By Sono Officially announced on his X website page. Sarbananda Sonowal, who left for Iran today, signed the agreement for India’s cooperation with Iran’s Sabahar port for the next 10 years at the strategically important Sabahar port.
Subsequently on his X website page he posted that he is happy that this event is happening during Prime Minister Modi’s regime “I am very happy to sign the long-term bilateral agreement for Sabahar port operations in Tehran, Iran, in the presence of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development Hey Mehrdat Basrbash.
India will develop and operate Ran’s strategic Chabahar port for 10 years, creating a historic moment in India-Iran relations. It is because of the relentless efforts of Prime Minister Modi. The agreement not only strengthens the ties between the two great nations but also establishes India’s firm footprint in the global freight and maritime sector.
It reflects Modi’s vision of boosting global trade by providing India with an alternative trade route to Iran, Afghanistan, Eurasia and Central Asian republics. India’s deal on Sabahar port will be globally significant Sarbananda Sonowal said.
Also, in this 10-year deal, Indian company India Ports Global Limited (IPGL) will invest nearly USD 120 million in Sabahar Port.
